The Doorstep Crate
4 bottles a week — your pick of whole, 2%, 1%, skim, or chocolate. The house milk, on repeat.
Returnable glass · Jersey milk · Now a standing order
Five generations, Jersey milk in returnable glass, and a bottle-return habit customers already keep. This is the layer that's missing: a standing weekly crate people subscribe to once, with every glass bottle tracked from doorstep to dairy and back — without anyone in the barn changing a thing.
The milk crate
Pick a crate, set it and forget it — the same Jersey milk in the same glass, arriving on a schedule. The bottle deposit rides along and comes back as credit when the empties do. (Prices and deposit are placeholders to show the flow.)
4 bottles a week — your pick of whole, 2%, 1%, skim, or chocolate. The house milk, on repeat.
8 bottles a week, mix and match — whole for the kids, chocolate for Fridays, cream for the coffee.
Add a pint to any crate — Jersey Mint, Cookies and Creemore, or Cashtown Crunch, dropped in with the milk.
Every bottle accounted for
Right now the glass just... goes out and hopefully comes back. This tracks it: which bottles are with which customer, which came home this week, and what deposit rolls back to them as credit. The habit stays exactly the same — the counting stops being a shoebox of notes.
Fewer bottles walk off, deposits reconcile themselves, and you can see your whole fleet of glass at a glance. (Sample data below.)
Nothing changes in the barn
01
The regular who drives in for glass milk sets a weekly crate instead. The order repeats itself — no call, no "did we run out," no missed week.
02
Each morning becomes one clean pick-and-pack run: crates to fill, a route sheet, and a deposit already logged against every bottle that leaves.
03
Empties come back on the next drop or through the store, the ledger clears the deposit to credit, and the same bottle goes back on the line. Nobody keeps a keyboard in the barn.
Home delivery & retail partners
The cottage that wants milk waiting Friday, the café that wants a case a week, the general store adding your bottles to the cooler — today they all reach you by calling and hoping someone writes it down. This is that same conversation, captured once, so a route or a wholesale account starts itself.
Every submission becomes one queued account with quantities, cadence, and contact already attached — and every bottle that ships against it lands in the deposit ledger automatically.
A way to say yes to everyone who wants Miller's milk on the doorstep every week — with every bottle counted, not guessed at. That's the whole idea, and it's already built above, yours to keep.
